ARC Raiders is getting a much-needed content update: Headwinds. Embark will be introducing some new content for raiders to explore, and although it's quite far from being a complete overhaul of how the game works, it's a step in the right direction.
Among the biggest changes is a unique Solos vs Squads mode. Designed for hardcore and veteran players. It will let players who reach level 40 join as Solos in lobbies with full squads. There will be extra XP up for grabs, and an even greater PvP challenge if you're inclined to take on full teams.
This January update will be the first of four content drops ARC Raiders will get early in 2026. So, without further ado, let's see what the Headwinds ARC Raiders update brings to the game.
ARC Raiders Headwinds Update Content
As mentioned, the Headwinds ARC Raiders update will bring the following:
- New matchmaking option
- New minor map condition
- New project
- New cosmetics
Beyond that, expect an assortment of new quests, gameplay items, and QoL updates according to the full ARC Raiders early 2026 roadmap.
Solos vs Squads
If you've managed to hit level 40 and are looking for a bigger PvP challenge, you'll be able to jump Solo in a lobby full of squads. Sure, you can play it as you'd normally would, but the thrill of veterans will likely be to try and wipe out whole squads all on their own.
In any case, using this matchmaking option will grant extra XP.
Trophy Display
You'll have more reason to care about taking massive ARCs beyond looting. A new trophy case system will be available; you'll be able to display your hunts and reap the rewards for them.
Project Bird City
Now that the Cold Snap is done, a new minor map condition is set to arrive in the Buried City. Flocks of birds will be looking to stock up on resources, so if you see them around, expect some great loot, and likely other raiders looking to take advantage of it.
