ARC Raiders First-Person Mode: Does the Game Need It?

ARC Raiders continue to dominate the charts since its launch back in October 2025. It has now attracted over 12 million players, and Embark still has plans to maintain the momentum by adding new content soon. Could a first-person mode be part of its planned updates?

A first-person mode doesn’t seem to be outside the realm of possibility. One Reddit user discovered that Embark actually has a slightly functioning first-person perspective mode after he tweaked ARC Raiders’ settings using dev console commands. In a weird turn of events, the game can actually be played with FPP in mind. This has alerted the community and sparked interest over Embark stealthily adding one eventually.

Players then went on to tweak the settings for themselves, testing out if this FPP was viable. Obviously, it wasn't. There are notable clippings and awkward camera angles that don’t seem to work, but with proper execution and Embark’s blessing, an FPP mod might not be impossible.

While the FPP mode fueled speculation among the community, does a game like ARC Raiders even need one? Maybe, or maybe not.

Keep in mind that ARC Raiders has already drawn a sizeable crowd thanks to its unique take on the extraction shooter genre. Embark’s hybrid of PvE with PvP wasn’t a novel idea, but the perfect combination of multiple systems like third-person perspectives and proximity chat has turned this game into one chaotic wonder.

ARC Raiders' First-Person is Not Essential

Adding an FPP mode would downgrade the game’s best aspect: the freedom to see everywhere thanks to its third-person perspective. It’s what turned the game into a dynamic experience in the first place. Players. Removing that core feature would completely change the way ARC Raiders is meant to be played. Players are now more cautious in every angle as they can no longer see other players behind or from corners, and the threat of Arcs is increased tenfold. It might cause a rift among the community.

First-person mode would only embolden PvP players, turning them into Call of Duty or Apex Legends hunters who would only care about killing sprees and their chicken dinners. This makes jumping into a lobby a hot zone most of the time, as everyone would rush to find the nearest unsuspecting Raider who’s not that good in FPS games. Third-person was the true option for the game, and I’m glad Embark stuck with that identity.

ARC Raiders Is Not The Only Extraction Shooter Out There

Whether or not Embark plans to add a first-person mode in the future, it would only dilute the extraction shooter genre and ruin ARC Raiders’ appeal of dynamic encounters. Casual players who love to chill and loot with random strangers would hate its PvP-centric approach.

The good news here is that ARC Raiders isn’t the only extraction shooter in the market. If players wanted a true first-person shooter experience, games like Escape from Tarkov and Hunt: Showdown invite players with the same kind of bloodthirsty energy to pop heads. Even Bungie’s Marathon could also fill that hole.

I mean, come on. While the idea of FPP sounds pretty interesting for a game like ARC Raiders, it is a bad idea in the long run. Unless Embark finds a way to split its game modes into two, then that sounds like a reasonable feature. But if not, Embark doesn’t even need to entertain that notion.
