Locked rooms are some of the most rewarding spots you’ll find while roaming topside in ARC Raiders.
High-end resources such as meds, weapon upgrades, tools, and valuables are frequently placed behind key-locked doors.
Keys are single-use, so choosing when to spend one is almost as important as knowing where they go.
Because of that, the smartest players always scout their route, watch their surroundings, and make sure they have a safe exit planned before opening anything.
How Keys Work & Where to Find Them
Keys can spawn anywhere, but most players have the best luck searching residential interiors, administrative offices, desks, cabinets, and drawers on every map.

The Research & Administration block and Ruby Residences are among the busiest areas within the Dam Battlegrounds.
Keys can also come from quests, crafting, or looting gear from other raiders if you’re willing to fight around busy POIs and extraction areas.
The Raider Hatch Key and similar items can be secured by purchasing from Shani, progressing through quests, or crafting them.
Since death wipes most of your inventory, keeping keys in your Safe Pocket is a must.
It keeps your most valuable items secure even if someone downs you near a ladder or elevator.
Once you’ve found a key, it doesn’t always match the map you’re currently on. Some map-specific keys must be taken elsewhere, so check their name carefully before wasting a trip.
Every Key & What It Opens
Below is every known key in ARC Raiders, arranged by map region.

Global Key
- Raider Hatch Key: This universal key opens any marked Raider Hatch across all maps, giving you a private extraction point without relying on loud elevators. If you’re hauling expensive loot or recently cracked open a locked room, this key is one of the safest ways home. You can loot it from players, receive it as a reward, purchase it from Shani, or craft one yourself.
Dam Battlegrounds Keys
The Dam’s industrial complexes hide several locked rooms worth clearing if you’ve got space in your pack.
- Dam Surveillance Key: Opens a locked door inside the Water Treatment Control building, roughly near the central-southwest area. This facility usually has mid- to high-value loot and attracts a lot of traffic.
- Dam Staff Room Key: Used inside the large Research & Administration building. The staff room doesn’t sit too far from the tower edge of the building, and it’s great to check if you’re farming Dam keys in general, since many of them spawn inside this POI.
- Dam Control Center Tower Key: This key grants access to the top of the Control Tower, which dominates the center of the map. You’ll need to ride the zipline and maneuver through an elevator shaft to reach the locked door. It appears as a random drop or from the quest Trifecta. Be careful, this area gets very busy.
- Dam Testing Annex Key: Unlocks one of several sealed doors within the Testing Annex along the southeastern perimeter. The area hides multiple loot rooms, so that the key can be used more than once, depending on RNG doors. It may also be earned through the quest A Lay of the Land or dropped in other maps.
Buried City Keys
This sunken urban zone hides valuable stashes behind civic buildings and housing blocks.
- Buried City Town Hall Key: Opens the front of the Town Hall near the middle of the map. It can drop randomly or appear during the Our Presence Up There quest progress.
- Buried City Residential Master Key: Used to access multiple apartments in the western portion of the city, south of West Village. Because it can open more than one door, this is one of the better keys to gamble with.
- Buried City JKV Employee Access Card: Grants access to the upper-floor security door inside the JKV/Space Travel building, usually in or near its parking structure.
- Buried City Hospital Key: Opens one of the hospital’s interior doors, generally on upper levels. Expect good meds here.
- Spaceport Keys: The Spaceport’s mix of towers and storage buildings contains some of the game’s most contested rooms.
- Spaceport Ground Control / Control Tower Key: Unlocks the Ground Control Tower near the center-west portion of the map. ARC units often guard this zone, so treat it as high-risk.
- Spaceport Trench Tower Key: Used in the Trench Towers to the northeast. One key is enough to enter either tower, making it very convenient.
- Spaceport Container Storage Key: Opens a locked top-floor room inside Container Storage. Expect decent loot; it’s often worth the detour.
- Spaceport Warehouse Key: For the Shipping Warehouse north of the Spaceport hub, specifically an upstairs room.
- Spaceport Outskirts Bunker Key: Opens an isolated bunker in the western region (Alberi Hills). Since it’s farther from central traffic, this spot isn’t as contested and can make for safer looting.
- Blue Gate Keys: Blue Gate includes a scattered set of village homes, communication facilities, and tunnels beneath the surface.
- Blue Gate Communication Tower Key: Unseals the small door at the Communication Tower in the northernmost region. There’s also loot tucked below via cables near the tower.
- Blue Gate Confiscation Room Key: This key grants access to the Confiscated Goods room inside the underground tunnels. To reach it, players often zipline down from Reinforced Reception. Highly contested because this stash room offers strong rewards.
- Blue Gate Cellar Key: Opens cellar doors around the zone. One reliable entrance sits south of Olive Grove and Ruined Homestead, accessible via a hatch.
- Blue Gate Village Key: Unlocks the large double-door building in the central Village on the west side.
- Patrol Car Key: Used to open the back of a locked patrol car parked around the Headhouse area. It may appear during Armored Transports quests.
Every map in ARC Raiders hides treasure behind a matching key, and while keys are rare, they’re not impossible to farm if you sweep residential areas and complete quests regularly.
