Hyrule returns with Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity!

While it wasn't the Zelda game we expected, with many fans expecting Breath of the Wild 2, this is a welcome treat in a year with few unique Nintendo titles.

The hype will only intensify as this spiritual prequel to the Breath of the Wild arrives.

Age of Calamity aims to tell the story 100 years before the events we know so well and will tread old stories, bringing them into a new light.

When Will Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity Release?

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity will release on the 20th of November 2020.

The game will launch on the Nintendo Switch exclusively.

Set before the events of Breath of the Wild, during the Great Calamity, Hyrule's mightiest warriors defend the land from Calamity Ganon.

During the Great Calamity, Hyrule's Champions, Ancient Technology, Link and Zelda all do battle against Calamity Ganon and his army to protect the land from being taken over.

Now, get ready for some spoilers ahead...

As we know from the story of Breath of the Wild, they fail to do so. The Ancient Technology is corrupted and put under Ganon's control, the four champions of Hyrule lose their life and Link is left fighting for his life.

Zelda locks away Calamity Ganon for 100 years while Link rests in the Shrine of Resurrection.

This game will tell the tale of what happened before Breath of the Wild in a unique way, including the many battles that ensued to protect the land.

We could even see a few easter eggs and small nods to the Breath of the Wild that can help us answer questions we had.

There's also the possibility the devs allow players to prevent Calamity Ganon from wreaking havoc on Hyrule and save the many lost lives in battle; which prevents the events of Breath of the Wild coming to be.
