Details for the Cancelled 'Ocarina of Time Sequel' Have Leaked


The Zelda series is still going strong. Following the release of Skyward Sword HD, a sequel to the acclaimed Breath of the Wild is in development. However, there have been many cancelled Zelda projects. And details regarding one of these ventures have seemingly leaked.

Ocarina of Time sequel would follow Sheik

The sequel to Ocarina of Time would have carried on from the "bad ending" of the original game, where players would be following Sheik. Initially conceived by Retro Studios, former pre-production artist Sammy Hall, who was working on the project at the time, previously uncovered details and concept art for the sequel:

Fun pre-pre-pre-production origin story of the Master Sword. Within the bad ending of “Ocarina of Time” exploring the last male Sheik’s (after a genocidal ethnic-cleansing) journey transforming into the Master Sword. All while the Dark Gerudo are giving their 100 year birth to Gannon.

After analyzing one of Nintendo's documents from its leak earlier this year, Joshua 'NantenJex' Goldie has translated the text which has seemingly confirmed the existence of the sequel:

Even though they didn't get a chance to finish the instalment, Retro Studios are currently hard at work developing the forthcoming Metroid Prime 4.
