Ubisoft's New Tom Clancy Game is a F2P Arena Shooter Called XDefiant

Ubisoft’s new Tom Clancy game is Tom Clancy’s Xdefiant, a 6v6, free-to-play arena shooter promising extensive customization and, unlike its predecessor Hyper Scape, extensive post-launch support.

XDefiant is early in development, but Ubisoft announced a first test for U.S. and Canadian players starting August 13.

At launch, Tom Clancy’s XDefiant will feature four classes drawn from the Tom Clancy universe with more planned for later.

  • Wolves (Ghost Recon) - tank with shield abilities
  • Cleaners (The Division) - Fire-based high DPS
  • Outcast (The Division) - Healers
  • Echelon (Splinter Cell) - support, gathers and hides intel

You’ll choose a character, called a “Defiant,” in each class and outfit them with a range of abilities as well. There’s also a range of skins to choose from for further customization, and the opportunity to adjust loadouts and appearances between matches.

More Defiants and skills are also promised for XDefiant’s future.

If you want to take part in the XDefiant alpha, head to playxdefiant.com, pick your platform, and log in with your Ubisoft account.

The alpha opens August 13 and, again, is only open to U.S. and Canadian residents.
