Phil Spencer's keeping himself busy right now. Having spoken to The Guardian recently about how Xbox is building more narrative-driven games than ever and acquiring a studio in South America, India or Africa, he's just shown up on the Kinda Funny Gamescast too.
Discussing his admiration for PlayStation 5's DualSense controller and Xbox Game Pass generating interest in old franchises, a key question was posed to him. Why is there a Nintendo Switch on his shelf? Many have previously speculated that his shelf could have clues about Xbox's future plans, after all.
Phil Spencer Reveals Why That Nintendo Switch Is On His Shelf
As it turns out, that particular Switch was a gift from Nintendo of America's current president, Doug Bowser, as Spencer confirmed:
The Switch was a gift from Nintendo. Doug Bowser and the team, they're obviously right up the hill from us - we're both in Redmond, Washington - and it was a gift from them. I have another one that I use to play at home, but that was one that they gave me early on when it launched. So, that's what that's from.
In other words, it's a show of gratitude. However, rumours have previously surfaced about Xbox Game Pass coming to Nintendo Switch. While Spencer himself has said he's open to it appearing on other platforms, it sounds unlikely to appear anytime soon, but we'll keep you informed as we find out more.
