WWE 2K22: Release Date, Leaks, Roster, Cover Athlete, PS5 and Xbox Series X Enhancements

After the disastrous release of 2019’s WWE 2K20, the folks at 2K Games and Visual Concepts decided to cancel WWE 2K21 in order to make WWE 2K22 the best wrestling game it can be, even if it means putting us fans through WWE 2K BattleGrounds to get there, so fans have some hope that the latest instalment won’t be your typical WWE 2K game.

While WWE 2K22 is definitely coming out this year, 2K Games and Visual Concepts haven’t revealed too many new details about the game yet, though reports did come out that some people from the company were backstage during this year’s Royal Rumble so they could get some scans in for the game’s current roster, so that should be a good sign, if anything else.

After WWE 2K20 gave us Becky Lynch and Roman Reigns as the cover stars in 2019, it seems that the most likely candidates for the WWE 2K22 cover stars are either Drew McIntyre, Sasha Banks, or a combination of both since they have been dominating the year in WWE thus far.

Other candidates for the cover star include Bianca Belair, the returning Edge, Big E, and Charlotte Flair, among others.

Are There Any New Roster Additions?

Every new WWE 2K game is bound to have a couple of newer stars included, with WWE 2K20 managing to add relevant stars like Keith Lee and Matt Riddle, so it’s likely that we’ll see some of the newer rising talents like Damian Priest, Angel Garza, and Walter, along with returning stars like John Morrison, who hasn’t been seen since WWE 12.

Will WWE 2K22 Have Any New/Returning Game Features?

Since WWE 2K20 didn’t end up making anyone happy, 2K Games’ Patrick Gilmore conducted a survey to ask fans what they would want to see in WWE 2K22.

While he did provide a basic structure for what to expect from their newest WWE game, including an improved UI, better gameplay, and even better physics, that didn’t answer some of the questions fans had, like if GM Mode or 2K Showcase would be returning, so we’re gonna have to wait and see.

Is WWE 2K22 Coming To Next-Gen Consoles?

It’s not yet clear if WWE 2K22 will come to PS5 and Xbox Series X but that would probably be a wise move. Fans have already seen the extent of what the WWE 2K games can do on PS4 and Xbox One with the results varying from player to player but we would like to see more, so a big debut on next-gen would definitely get people talking, especially if they talk-up some of those improvements.
