World of Warcraft's latest expansion brings with it new end game systems unique to the Shadowlands.
Upon reaching max level, players are asked to join a covenant based on each faction they aided throughout the questing experience.
Renown is the reward progression system of each of the 4 covenants and offers many different rewards from player power to cosmetics.
There are a total of 40 Renown levels in patch 9.0.5 and 40 more in patch 9.1 Chains of Domination.
To unlock the full potential of soulbinds, players will need to reach 79 renown to unlock the final empowered soulbinds, which gives socketed conduits +2 ranks.
WoW Shadowlands How to Get Renown
Renown comes from most sources in the shadowlands, however, there are efficient ways you can farm it if you are short on time and want to get the most you can.
Here are three guaranteed ways to receive renown:
- Weekly collect souls from the Maw quest
- Weekly collect 1000 anima quest
- Reward from every chapter of the covenant campaign (9 max)
Here are all the ways you can potentially receive Renown from random activities:
- Mythic plus end of run rewards
- Weekly world boss
- Daily Calling
The fastest way to farm Renown is to complete your weekly guaranteed content, and progress as much of the campaign as you can. If you fall behind and are unable to complete any more you can queue for Looking for Raid and each boss has a high chance to award you with renown if you are behind.
Players can check their Renown levels by opening their covenant report located on their minimap.
During the early stages of the expansion, renown was capped on how much you can earn per week based on how far behind you were. This is no longer the case however, the restrictions will be re-introduced when Patch 9.1 hits and we continue to earn up to 80 Renown.
