A 70-year-old man was unbanned in World of Warcraft after a Reddit post about him being recognized by the game developer as a bot caught fan attention worldwide.

Spotted by PCGamesN, this Reddit post came from the 70-year-old’s children who asked for help on how to unban their father. They pointed out that he got the ban “for basically playing the game a way that Blizzard assumes bots do.”

More justification about his way of playing was elaborated in the Reddit post. Part of it reads:

“He's been playing WoW since the original launch of BC. He's a 70-year-old guy who loves to quest around and lvl new characters. He also doesn't talk in chat much at all. To the outside perspective... yeah, he seems like a bot. But, it's an old guy playing who loves the fantasy elements of the game and the world. He's probably made close to 10 hunters at this point.”

Eventually, that led to Blizzard addressing the six-month ban being lifted. The final update in this post showed the company’s email, stating that aside from getting back his account, he'd also be reimbursed with 30 days of game time to “cover the time you were unable to use it.”
