Serpentshrine Cavern and Tempest Keep Reverted To Post-Nerf Values To Help More Guilds Clear Tier 5 In The Burning Crusade Classic

Blizzard has published plans to nerf Serpentshrine Cavern and Tempest Keep to help struggling guilds complete tier 4 content in the Burning Crusade Classic as the game approaches its Tier 6 raids in the coming months.

Update
After delaying these nerfs, Blizzard has confirmed that they will now come into effect on December 14th, giving players roughly 3 weeks to complete these raids pre-nerf if they have not already.

These plans are to nerf Morogrim Tidewalker and Lady Vashj in Serpentshrine Caverns as well as, Kael'thas Sunstrider in Tempest Keep.

Many casual guilds are stuck around 8/10 progress for the tier, which is all bosses besides the final of each raid.

It has now been around 2 months since Tier 5 raids were released, and most guilds who wanted the achievement of completing the hard versions of these encounters already had the chance to do so, meaning this change will only help the struggling guilds catch up.

Serpentshrine Cavern and Tempest Keep Reverted To Post-Nerf Values To Help More Guilds Clear Tier 5 In The Burning Crusade Classic

Serpentshrine Caverns

  • Morogrim Tidewalker – Tidewalker Lurkers’ health has been reduced to their post-nerf values.
  • Lady Vashj – Persuasion no longer provides crowd control immunity.

Tempest Keep

  • Kael’thas Sunstrider – The encounter is now set to its post-nerf configuration.

These changes will be live after weekly maintenance in each region during the week of December 14th.

This is nothing new for World of Warcraft, as current raid tiers often are nerfed to help the struggling guilds later in a tier, however, it is the first time significant changes are being made to the Classic version of the game.

It will be interesting to see how Blizzard handles changes like this in the remainder of the Burning Crusade Classic and potentially into Wrath of the Lich King, and gauge community reaction for nerfing old content.
