Free Character Transfers From Low to High Population Servers Announced For The Burning Crusade Classic

Blizzard announced today that they will be opening up free transfers from low population realms in the coming weeks allowing them for the first time to transfer to a high population realm for first time.

Free transfers are nothing new for World of Warcraft, although it normally features high population servers moving to low population servers to even out the balance.

Blizzard recognizes the problem as more and more servers continue to bleed players and after many players' feedback asking for Blizzard to do something about dying servers, this is their solution.

There were many servers added for the influx of players during Classic WoW in 2019, and while The Burning Crusade is still a popular option, it does not have the players it did 3 years ago, so reducing the number of servers will ensure the game stays healthy in the future.

The transfers can only be used in the destination realm is a high population realm and is of the same ruleset, meaning players moving from a PvE server are unable to move to a PvP server.

There is no date set for these transfers just "in the next couple of weeks", and hopefully they stay open for a few extra weeks to let players currently unsubscribed return and not miss out on the opportunity to switch and not return to an even more dead server next time they log in.

Many players are suggesting Blizzard change the destination realms to medium servers, to prevent these medium servers from becoming the new low servers in a few patches time.

Stay tuned for more information closer to the date of the free character transfers.
