Warframe Chroma Guide - How to Obtain, Craft, and Best Builds


The draconic Chroma is a great DPS character to use across all kinds of missions. His color-based abilities affect how he develops in battle, making it a very versatile warframe and a great addition to your arsenal.

His Prime version also displays better higher armor and energy capacity, as well as an additional polarity. Right now, Chroma Prime is obtainable until the Vault locks him out again, so you may need to hurry up in case you want him.

How to Craft Chroma?

Chroma's main blueprint is rewarded upon completion of the quest The New Strange, and the component blueprints are awarded by completing Junctions. The Neuroptics will be rewarded after completing the Uranus Junction, the Chassis the Neptune Junction, and the Systems the Pluto Junction.

Additional blueprints can be bought from Cephalon Simaris; 25,000 Reputation for component blueprints and 50,000 Reputation for the main blueprint.

Chroma Overview and Best Weapon Options

Chroma’s abilities are based on his emitted Energy color, and while there isn’t any crowd control or mobility tool on his roster, his abilities are extremely offensive while also decently defensive/supportive, depending on the approach you take.

Abilities
Passive

Chroma possesses an extra mid-air jump and bullet jump. Wings matching Chroma's energy colors will form during these maneuvers.

Chroma can also alter his abilities to match any basic uncombined elemental attribute of the player's choice. Customizing Chroma's primary emission color determines what abilities he starts with. Color choices are grouped into four categories with each category corresponding to a given element. Abilities can be cycled mid-mission using Spectral Scream.

Spectral Scream
Exhale a deep breath of elemental destruction. Tap to cycle through elements, hold to cast. The chosen element applies to all of Chroma's abilities.

Vex Armor
When Shields are hit, Chroma and nearby allies' Armor grows stronger, when Health takes a hit, Weapon Damage increases. Active for a limited time, maximum increases corresponding to rank.

Recommended Weapons
Chroma doesn't need any specific weapon setup, so Ignis, Epitaph, and Guan Dao will serve their respective purposes, and of course, if you can afford the Prime, Wraith or Vandal versions, the better. Use as many Forma on them as you see fit to achieve the desired build, and you'll be good to go!

This build prioritizes Strength and Duration since the negative values on Range and Efficiency don’t affect the abilities that much, making it work pretty well as an All-Rounder setup. Rage serves as a way of regenerating Energy, and Growing Power as the Aura Mod should be paired with a good status-inflicting weapon. For dramatically better results, replace the mods in the setup with their Prime or Umbral versions.
