Pistol Whip: Smoke & Thunder Arrives On August 12

Cloudhead Games has confirmed Pistol Whip's getting another big expansion. Calling it Smoke & Thunder, this introduces a second mini-campaign, following on from last year's futuristic 2089 update. Releasing on PC, Oculus Quest and PSVR, that's launching on August 12th and has two major changes.

Primarily, we've got five new levels tied together with a western aesthetic. Telling a story of sisters Jessie and Tess, they'll be voiced by Victoria Hogan and Avalon Penrose respectively. As for the music, new songs from The Heavy, Black Fire, Bones UK, Devor and Magic Sword will back these levels.

Players can also expect new weapons, new gameplay mechanics, and a new boss fight. That comes with a new modifier system called "Styles", adding significant gameplay variety. For VR fans, you may recall that was previously teased during June's UploadVR's E3 Showcase.

This expansion is free to all existing Pistol Whip owners. Currently, that's priced around £19.99/$24.99 for PC and Quest - slightly higher on PSVR - but Cloudhead's confirmed this'll increase to $30 from August 15th. If you've yet to pick up Pistol Whip, now's a great time to finally dive in before this price increase.
