Valorant: Shroud To Compete In VCT NA Challengers 2 Stage 3 Open Qualifiers

Michael "Shroud" Grzesiek, one of the most popular gamers of all time recently revealed on stream that he would be competing in the VCT NA Stage 3 Challengers 2 Open Qualifiers.

After hanging up his boots, Shroud bid farewell to competitive CS:GO and focused on making content. He was part of the revered Cloud 9 roster, which had the potential to win every Major they competed in.

Unfortunately for CS:GO fans, Shroud has already hung his cape for competitive tournaments. However, his recent statement has given Valorant fans new hope.

Shroud will be taking part in the VCT NA Stage 3 Challengers 2 Open Qualifiers with some old friends. Fans are expecting that the "Old Guys Club" (ex CS:GO players from Cloud 9) will come back together for another tournament.

So if you're wondering who Shroud is going to play with, then we got you covered. Here is everything you need to know about Shroud competing in the open qualifiers for VCT NA Stage 3 Challengers 2.

Shroud will play in VCT NA Stage 3 Challengers 2 Open Qualifiers

The Week 2 Open Qualifiers will start from July 22nd, 2021. The popular Twitch streamer opened up about his participation in competitive Valorant, and also explained his stance. Shroud said that he is competing just for fun, and is not looking to win anything whatsoever.

Shroud will take part with his old buddies, but he mentioned that some of them may not be allowed to play. Although fans wanted to see the old Cloud 9 roster resurface for VCT, they will have to wait for that to happen.

Sean Gares, Shroud's teammate from C9 will not be able to take part in the tournament, as he is a content creator for Gen.G Esports.

Fans wanted to see Quan "Dicey" Tran (100 Thieves) and Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham (T1) play in the same team with Shroud for the VCT. However, that may not be a possibility as both of them are currently signed to an Esports organization.

When his chat asked if he could play with NRG's Brandon "Ace" Winn, Shroud clarified that he cannot play with players who are already signed to Esports organizations.

These orgs will have their main roster in VCT, and will not allow other players or content creators from that organization to play in the open qualifiers.

Shroud mentioned numerous times on his stream that he doesn't care who he plays with, but it would be nostalgic for fans to see the Old Boys Club again.

Old Boys Club reunion?

Shroud specified in his stream that he is looking to compete casually with his friends.

Justin "J9" Ortiz joined several of Shroud's VCT watch parties, and fans got to hear the two discuss possibilities of a team-up.

When his chat asked who all are playing in the team, Shroud said:

"Team? I don't know, it's just me, ShawnBM, and Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert."

Professional CS:GO players like Tarik Celik, Ryan "FREAKAZOiD" Abadir, were also brought up in the chat, but Shroud did not pay heed to any of the rumours.

It is quite clear that Shroud isn't trying to win, he is just looking to have some fun with his friends. He mentions that he will not strategize or do practice routines as he just wants to hop in the server and frag out.

The VCT NA Stage 3 Challengers 2 Open Qualifiers will begin later this month and it will be interesting to see who all end up in Shroud's team.

Shroud to main KAY/O?

The VCT NA Stage 3 Challengers 1 did not allow KAY/O, and Shroud spoke about this a lot on his recent streams. He highlighted how this Agent can change the current meta.

Shroud also suggested that if a new Agent is introduced, they should be usable in competitive tournaments. Spencer "Hiko" Martin joined Shroud's watch party and even he admitted that KAY/O will be a game-changer.

There is a huge possibility that Shroud might play as KAY/O in the Open Qualifiers.

He said:

"So next qualifiers, probably when they will play KAY/O. That's cool, that is the one I'm supposed to play in. I'll go run around as KAY/O and silence things."

Fans can expect high-octane action from Shroud as KAY/O is an Agent that encourages gunplay in Valorant. It will be exciting to see how Shroud uses this Agent to show off some of his Radiant mechanical aiming skills.
