Release Date

Update - It was believed Agent 17 would arrive with Episode 3 Act 2 (on September 9), but looks like we'll need to wait for Act 3 for the next Agent to arrive.

Every new Act in VALORANT is marked with the release of a new Agent. This is the general format in which the developers add Agents to the game.

There have not been any sufficient content drops after KAY/O's introduction, so fans can expect something big from the next Agent.

Leaks

Popular data miners, content creators and lore enthusiasts took to Twitter to discuss all the new data found in the game files.

According to @ValorMike and @Floxaay, a new Agent string was added to the game back in June 2021. It was codenamed Deadeye.

This new Agent was also teased in VALORANT's One Year Anthem. Just a brief glitch in the video showed a well-dressed character with a sniper rifle.

The Agent resembled Midas from Fortnite and has a unique scar in one eye. Fans believe that this is a similarity with Sova and that this new Agent will carry that rifle just like our favourite Russian Initiator.

However, that doesn't clarify which category he is going to belong to. A closer look at the current Agent pool will help players deduce more about Deadeye's role in the game.

The common theory about non-Radiant Agents is that they carry a weapon or some form of weaponized technology. Their entire kit is based around that specific weapon or technology.

From the images, we can see that Deadeye carries a plasma rifle with a sniper scope. Sova has his arrows, Killjoy has her bots, Cypher has traps and so on. Thus, it is plausible to believe that Deadeye's sniper is the weapon around which his abilities are built.

Now, there are currently five Duelists, four Initiators, four Controllers, and three Sentinels in VALORANT. Hence, fans can expect that the next Agent might be a Sentinel.

However, this deduction is based on all the information currently available on social media. Take it with a grain of salt until the official information is released.

Abilities

At this point, it is quite difficult to ascertain Deadeye's abilities based on a picture and a codename. However, some popular theories seem plausible.

A major section of the community believes that Deadeye is Sova's counterpart from the Mirror-verse in VALORANT. This would explain the scar on his eye, and also tie in with his rifle.

Similarly, others believe that Deadeye is an original character from the VALORANT Protocol's Earth. He will join the team to honour Brimstone's call and might be ex-military just like Sova.

However, Deadeye's dress makes him look more like a rich-hitman than an ex-military. The classic hitman vest suggests that he might be a gun for hire.

At the same time, several believe that the gun is just a fancy Marshall skin teased by the developers. Thus, fans will have to wait and see whether his abilities will be around a sniper rifle.

Official News

While these theories sound fantastic, fans will have to wait till Episode 3 Act 2 to know more about the next Agent. There is no official announcement from Riot Games surrounding Deadeye.

The developers mentioned on Twitter, "We think Act II is gonna be a banger, but we’ve hit some constraints while getting it to the quality bar you deserve."

They recently announced that Episode 3 Act 1 will end on 8th September 2021. Fans can expect the first teaser showcasing Agent 17 on @playVALORANT during the first week of September, or the week before.
