Day five of Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Masters Reykjavik saw 3 matches in which two teams were sent home from the competition, and the first grand finalist has now been determined.

Fnatic vs Version1

EU’s Fnatic ended the VCT journey of North America’s Version1 after an emphatic display of the former’s dominance on two consecutive maps, closing out the series 2-0.

Game 1 in Icebox was more of a close fight. Both teams were exchanging wins which led the game to reach overtime. But Fnatic managed to seal the deal and closed out game 1, 14-12 after Nikita “Derke” Sirmitev who scored 39 kills for the Europeans.

Derke continued his momentum towards game 2 in Ascent, and Fnatic prevailed in the end with a dominant performance after a 13-6 victory, and an overall 2-0 series finish. This caused Version1 to be eliminated from VCT, now with only one team from NA remaining in the form of Sentinels.

Team Liquid vs Team Vikings

The battle to determine Fnatic’s opponent in the next round saw their fellow EU team Liquid taking on Brazil’s Team Vikings, wherein the Europeans came out victorious after winning two games to nothing.

Both games of Team Liquid vs Team Vikings showed the former’s supremacy. Team Liquid won game 1 in Ascent after a 13-8 win, and they closed out game 2 in Haven with a powerful 13-5 finish. Team Vikings will also be eliminated from the competition, and all teams from South America are now gone.

Sentinels vs NUTURN Gaming

The final matchup of day five was the upper bracket finals. Sentinels bested NUTURN Gaming from South Korea to secure their spot in the grand finals.

Sentinels won game 1 in Bind, 13-5, and continued all the way to dominate game 2 in Haven, 13-4. Gaming sensation Tyson “TenZ” Ngo and Hunter “SicK” Mims led the charge for Sentinels, and they will now wait until the grand finals wherein they will face the winner of the lower bracket finals.

Fnatic and Team Liquid will face each other tonight, with the winner going head-to-head with NUTURN Gaming to determine Sentinels’ opponent in the grand finals. Make sure to follow us for more action-packed coverage of the Valorant Masters!
