The wishbone is one of Valheim's most mysterious and fascinating items, use to find treasure and valuable loot as you explore the game. We'll show you how to get the Wishbone, how to use it, and what the best thing you can do is once you've got one.
How to Get the Wishbone in Valheim
Like other important items in Valheim, the wishbone is specifically tied to story progress so you’ll need to work your way through the game. You’ll earn the wishbone from defeating Bonemass, the third boss. To find out how to beat Bonemass, check out our special guide on that here.
Once Bonemass is defeated, you'll get the Wishbone as an equippable item in your inventory, though you can't equip both it and Megingjord at the same time, so you might have to sacrifice some inventory space. Now we'll explain how to use it.
How to Use the Wishbone
The wishbone is an equippable item in Valheim, which makes finding secrets easier. When equipped and near secret treasure, the player will be surrounded by green particle effects. This effect is also accompanied by a ding sound, which will increase in speed as you move closer to buried secrets.
Once you are over the secret, players can use the shovel to uncover what lies beneath. While it’s nice to imagine it could be literally anything, it can only be one of three things, muddy scrap piles, silver veins or buried treasure.
If you're still powering through Valheim, you should have everything ready for the next boss, Modor. Or if you're looking to equip yourself as well as possible, we've got a guide right here on how to find the Swamp Key.
