With a massive world to explore and plenty of secrets to find, Valheim might just be one of the most exciting games of 2021.
The truth is, we’d all like extra help from time to time. Whether it’s the addition of more health, or even the ability to increase your inventory size if there’s a buff to be had, many of us will happily take it.
Valheim allows players to improve their character in a number of ways, and one of those ways is by equipping the wishbone
What is the wishbone?
The wishbone is an equippable item in Valheim, which makes finding secrets easier. When equipped and near secret treasure, the player will be surrounded by green particle effects. This effect is also accompanied by a ding sound, which will increase in speed as you move closer to buried secrets.
Once you are over the secret, players can use the shovel to uncover what lies beneath. While it’s nice to imagine it could be literally anything, it can only be one of three things, muddy scrap piles, silver veins or buried treasure.
Finding the Wishbone
Like other important items in Valheim, the wishbone is specifically tied to story progress so you’ll need to work your way through the game. You’ll earn the wishbone from defeating Bonemass the third boss.
Bonemass is no pushover though, so we’d recommend following our guide on how to summon and beat the boss.
With Bonemass defeated, the wishbone is all yours. Simply equip it within your inventory to start searching for those secrets. Be mindful that you can’t equip both the wishbone and Megingjord, so you’ll have to sacrifice inventory size in order to go hunting for buried treasure.
Valheim is the next Viking title to take Steam by storm, there are plenty of plans for the future with the 2021 roadmap. You can even set up a dedicated server and play with your friends in co-op! If bosses interest you, there's already four in the game with Eikthyr, the Elder, Bonemass and Modor, you'll require plenty of items along the way like the Swamp Key.
