Valheim: How To Get a Pick Axe

Valheim has quickly become one of the biggest games on Steam with over 481,000 concurrent players!

If you're looking to jump into Valheim, there are a few things you'll need to succeed... one of these being a pickaxe!

How to Unlock

To begin, you'll need to defeat the first boss. To do this, you'll need to kill deer on the map to get a deer trophy.

To use this, you'll need to head over to the alter that shows on your map and place the trophy down by equipping it to your Hotbar. This will now spawn the boss you need to kill.

We recommend you prepare for this fight with plenty of food. Although this fight isn't particularly hard, the boss has a lot of HP (Health Points) so the fight may take a while.

Crafting

After killing the boss, you'll get the "Hard Deer Antler". This is one of the components you'll need to craft the pickaxe.

Once you obtain this item you'll unlock the recipe needed to craft the pickaxe.

Head back to your base with the items obtained (as well as some wood) to create your new tool.

How to Use 

Now that you have your pickaxe, you can get stone from any rock you find on your journey.

As well as this, you'll be able to obtain materials like copper, tin and other metals found around the map.
