Valheim Devs Suggest Starting a New Game for Hearth and Home


Valheim has been an undeniable hit for developers Iron Gate. Having recently surpassed six million copies, fans can expect the first major update, Hearth and Home, to launch tomorrow. Adding new housing mechanics, creature updates, and changes to the food system, Iron Gate believes you should start a new save.

Speaking ahead of Hearth And Home‘s launch. Valheim's creator Richard Svensson and generalist artist Robin Eyre released a new "Fireside Chat" video, detailing what fans can expect. Spotted by PC Gamer, Svensson confirmed you'd be best experiencing this new update on a completely new world:

Speaking in detail, Svensson confirmed:

I really hope people will, instead of just continue playing with their own worlds, actually create a new world and start from the beginning. Because we added and changed so much, so to get the best experience that's probably what you should do. And what we would recommend.

Svensson advises that getting the new content means exploring new areas. While he understands "a lot of people want to continue playing their old worlds," he confirms it's "probably not the best thing to do if you want to experience all the new stuff."
