The Division 2 2021 Roadmap Announced: 2020 Content Recycled, With New Content Coming In 2021

Despite working on a new open-world Star Wars game, Ubisoft Massive will continue to work on The Division 2 - although perhaps not in the way you'd perhaps be expecting.

The developer had previously discussed the prospect of new content on Twitter:

"We see the ongoing conversation in our community and we understand that you are eager for news of what lies ahead for The Division 2," a statement reads.

Today, we are thrilled to confirm that there will be additional content for The Divison 2 released later this year!

It is your continuous passion and support which enables us to continue to build upon The Divison 2 experience, and we cannot thank you enough for that.

Some of you had noticed that Title Update 12 was originally meant to be the last major Title Update for The Division 2, but thanks to your continued support, we are now in the early stages of development for free-content to release later in 2021.

The Division 2 2021 Roadmap

Ubisoft will essentially be reviving prior seasonal content for the new few months, with Season 5 offering the same content as Season 1, for example.

That means you can grab any collectables you missed, while Leagues and Global Events will also return, as will the game's seasonal manhunts.

On a technical level, fans can expect Title Updates to ensure smooth running, although Ubisoft is promising new content in the coming months.

"As announced a few weeks back, we have begun work on new content for The Division 2," a new blog post reads.

"The development of this content will be led by a group of project veterans at Ubisoft Massive. This will see Adrian Trasca and Yannick Banchereau staying at the helm of the project as producer and associate creative director. We are also excited to announce that the new content will be made with the support of a talented group of developers at Ubisoft Bucharest."

"In the next major update, we are looking to bring a game mode that is entirely new to the franchise. Along with the game mode, we are investigating new ways to progress your agent with an emphasis on increasing build variety and viability. We will be revealing more about what lies ahead as the update gets closer."

The post notes that the update is several months away at least, likely slated to come in late 2021.
