Should I Wait For the iPad Pro 2022? If you're looking to upgrade your tablet, you've likely asked yourself this question.

Apple is set to impress this year with a slew of new tech, including the iPhone SE 3, iPhone 14, and MacBook Air 2022.

The Apple iPad Air Pro (2021) is one of the best tablets to date and the next-generation 2022 upgrade is likely to be even better, but, is it worth waiting for?

Here's what we think.

How Long Will The Wait For iPad Pro 2022 Be?

So, how long will the wait for the latest iPad Pro be? It looks like it could arrive sooner than you might expect.

If we look at the release date patterns, we're hoping that the new iPad Pro will release in Spring this year.

Previously, the 2016 and 2020 models were released in March, and the most recent iPad Pro 2021 was launched in April.

We won't know for sure until we hear something more official from Apple themselves, so stay tuned as we'll update this section when we know more.

iPad Pro 2022 Specs

While the official specifications of the upcoming iPad Pro (2022) have not yet been announced, there are several rumoured changes we're expecting to see.

According to a report from Bloomberg, the new iPad Pro could feature a glass back instead of aluminium and offer wireless charging capabilities, similar to the latest iPhones.

Reportedly, the new iPad Pro 11-inch model could feature a Mini LED screen similar to the current 12.9-inch version.

Not only this, but a recent report from 9to5Mac even suggests that the new 2022 iPad Pro could feature the latest Apple M2 chip alongside the upcoming MacBook Air.

Alongside these rumoured upgrades, we're only hoping to see other improvements such as greater battery life and more colour options.

We'll be sure to share the official specs once announced.

And while there is currently no official word on pricing, we're expecting the 2022 iPad Pro to have a similar starting price to last years model, around $799 / £749.

But, if you're not interested in waiting for the 2022 iPad Pro, what options do you have right now?

Is The iPad Pro 2021 Worth Buying Now?

The iPad Pro (2021) remains one of the best tablets around, offering some excellent specs and features and will still be a viable choice for many.

The 2021 iPad Pro 11-inch model has a starting price of $799 / £749 and reaches up to $2,099 / £1,899 while the 12.9-inch version starts at $1,099 / £999 and goes up to $2,399 / £2,149.

Of course, this is a premium tablet, however, are you getting your money's worth?

The 2021 release was one of the biggest upgrades for the iPad Pro so far, featuring the Apple M1 chip which can also be found in the most recent Macbooks.

Alongside this, the 12.9-inch model features XDR liquid retina display with Mini-LED backlighting technology.

This allows for up to a whopping 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio and huge 1,600 nits of peak brightness which should look seriously sharp and allow you to enjoy high-quality entertainment.

The iPad Pro (2021) even offers 5G capabilities, allowing for a lightning-fast connection with incredibly quick data speeds.

Plus, you're getting up to 16GB of RAM which should allow you to tackle more complex multitasking without difficulty.

Alongside the specs provided, the iPad Pro offers some fantastic features that we think make it a worthy investment.

Much like some of the best iPads, the Pro model can utilise the Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard which means it could even be a great tool for work.

You're also getting a Thunderbolt port that allows you to transfer power, data and video through one single cable.

Plus, the iPad Pro even features a 12MP wide camera lens and 10MP ultra-wide camera lens for high-quality photo and video capture.

Should I Wait For iPad 2022?

Ultimately, the decision to wait or not comes down to your individual preferences, but if you want our two cents, we'd say it could be worth sticking around for.

The 2022 iPad Pro will likely include a more powerful chipset, a better camera and new features such as wireless charging.

We're also expecting to see some improvements to the design with more colour options and a glass back.

Plus, if you're interested in the 11-inch version, the rumoured Mini LED backlighting upgrade for the 2022 model could be worth holding out for.

Of course, if you're looking to upgrade immediately the 2021 iPad Pro is still an excellent option.

It is also worth noting that many of the best tablets are also viable options for those looking to upgrade with options such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ offering similar specifications.

However, if you're not in a rush to upgrade, it could be worth waiting for the 2022 model to arrive and see what it has in store for you.
