samsung odyssey ark, release date speculation

CES 2022 showcased some fantastic new monitors slated for release, including world-firsts in the form of new QD-OLED displays and the world's thinnest monitor, but it's the Samsung Odyssey Ark that may have stolen the show with one of their most impressive monitors to date.

This article will go over what we know about the Samsung Odyssey Ark's specs, the latest on its release date, and when you can pre order.

The massive 55" curved screen takes gaming and productivity to a whole new level, and it looks like, at least for the US, we finally have a release date.

Samsung Odyssey Ark release date speculation and pre-orders

The new Odyssey Ark is currently available to pre-order directly from the Samsung website and is available at to pre-order.

The listing reads that it will be released on 12th September 2022, so it looks like those of you in the US won't have to wait long. However, we're yet to see a concrete announcement from Samsung themselves, so we'd still advise taking this with a pinch of salt.

The same goes for the UK too, as the release date hasn't been officially revealed and retailers haven't put it up for pre order quite yet. We'll keep you posted when we see it.

It is always worth noting that release dates across different countries can be different, so hopefully folks in the UK won't be too envious if the US gets it early!

Samsung Odyssey Ark specs

So if you thought this massive display was all show, think again. The monitor packs an impressive resume making it great for gaming.

While it doesn't include QD-OLED like the Samsung Odyssey G8QNB, it is an impressive quantum mini-LED, 4K display coming in at a whopping 55 inches, with a 1000R curve.

Under the hood, you're getting a 1ms response time and a 165hz refresh rate. Response times tend to be a little longer with larger displays and more pixels, so we're interested to see how this fairs when we can get hands-on with it.

More good news for gamers comes with the fact it's a 16:9 ratio, not 21:9 as is the case with many of the best ultrawide monitors.

That's a massive bonus, especially as PS5 does not support ultrawide officially, and neither does Xbox Series X.

Obviously, the real draw here is the futuristic, over-the-top design which can be turned vertically too.

Many people working in IT or coding use a vertical setup for monitors, but we'd imagine that this would simulate looking up a sheer cliff face rather than providing any helpful function.

That being said, the verticality of the monitor is impressive and we think it's more of a gamer-orientated feature that allows you to have various windows/ apps open and in view.

Practical or not, you can't deny that it looks awesome, and we're predicting it'll be very popular for those willing to splash the cash...
