Valve Won’t Publish Games Exclusively Made for Steam Deck


With the Steam Deck getting closer to launch, Valve has confirmed that it has no plans to publish games that are made exclusively for their upcoming handheld hardware.

IGN reports that questions were asked on the official FAQ page of Valve, including if they are interested in publishing titles with the intent of being exclusive to Steam Deck. They responded by saying:

"No, that doesn't make much sense to us. It's a PC, and it should just play games like a PC."

But even if this is the case, the console won't be restricting players from using third-party applications. Valve has confirmed that Steam Deck's open-ended design means you can play games without going through Steam.

Steam recently set the record for their highest number of concurrent players at 27 million. These were topped by CS:GO players, followed by DOTA 2 and PUBG: Battlegrounds users.
