Following reports that Starfield was due in 2021 and then subsequent suggestions it'll launch in 2022, Bloomberg's Jason Schreier has reported that the game will be at E3 but that its release date is "way later than most people expect".

In a quote-tweet of content creator Luke Stephens, Schreier noted that according to several sources familiar with Starfield's development, the game will be at E3.

Elaborating further, Schreier noted that much of Bethesda Game Studios were working on Fallout 76 until it launched, and that Starfield's team was "very small until 2019" and that rumours of a 2020 release date were not true.

The Verge's Tom Warren also noted that the game is "not coming this year" in a response to Schreier.

At this point in time, there's little actually known about Starfield. Here's hoping an E3 reveal would reveal more about the project which is expected to be the first major Xbox exclusive since Microsoft purchased Bethesda.

Good job both companies are holding a joint event soon then, eh?
