Stardew Valley has been a smash hit with all kinds of players around the world. It's an easy-going and fun game that anyone can play, which is likely why it has such a wide and varying community. No doubt many have had multiple playthroughs and want more, what about Stardew Valley 2? Well, there's potential we might see one in the future...
Will There Be a Stardew Valley 2?
Stardew Valley was a passion project started by solo developer Eric Barone, otherwise known as ConcernedApe. When he was questioned about future plans for the game he said that he didn't want to commit to version 1.6, we're currently at version 1.5 so what's going to happen? He went on to say that there's a possibility for a sequel to the title.
In an interview with Game Informer, he said "I'm not willing to commit to Stardew Valley 1.6, I will say that I definitely love Stardew Valley. I love it as a world and a universe. I don't think [1.5] will be the end of Stardew Valley. I would not be surprised if there's another Stardew Valley update, or multiple updates, or a Stardew Valley 2. Who knows?"
"There isn't currently a Stardew Valley 2; after 1.5, I'll decide what the next step for Stardew Valley is. But I would say there will probably be another step for Stardew Valley. In the meantime, I'm also working on a couple of new projects - solo projects - so I have plenty to do."
In regards to those other projects, it seems that two are currently in the works, both will follow a similar aesthetic to Stardew with 2D pixel art. One of the titles will actually be set within the Stardew Valley world, though it won't revolve around farming. We don't have much information on the other game in development but Eric wanted to make sure that fans "don't get too hyped at this stage".
So, it seems that we likely will have to wait a while for more news on the future of Stardew Valley and more of Barone's creations but with the standard of his first title, no doubt the next will be great!
