Stardew Valley - How to build a silo

Want to know how to build a silo in Stardew Valley? When winter hits and your animals no longer wish to be free-range because they prefer the warmth of their barns or coops, then you'll need a way to feed them. A silo is essentially a giant storage container for hay and can be quite useful in the long run. In terms of money, it's quite cheap but it does require a few different materials.

How to build a silo

So in order to build a silo, you will need to collect the following materials:

• 100G
• 100 Stone
• 10 Clay
• 5 Copper Bar

So when you have these materials, you need to go to see Robin at her shop. The carpenter's shop can be found in the northeast section of Pelican Town, in the mountains. Be sure to check out our character hub, so you can see when Robin will be manning her store. Once there, interact with Robin and select the "construct farm buildings" option. Click on the arrows below the image of the building until you come across the one to build a silo.

Once you have found the right one, click on the little hammer icon under the description to purchase it. You'll be taken to a screen showing your farm and you'll be able to select where to place the silo. After purchasing it, it will take 2 days to build (this starts the day after the purchase).

What can you store in a silo?

Once you're done building a silo, you can use it to store hay to ensure you have enough food for your animals. This will be especially useful during the winter season because there will be no natural food for you to feed them. You can get hay in a number of ways:

• Cut grass with a scythe and the cuttings are automatically added to the silo
• Buy hay from Marnie and store it in the silo
• Harvest wheat and put it in the silo

All of these things can be used as food for your barn and coop farm animals.
