PlayStation delighted fans everywhere last year when they confirmed a Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake is in the works. Naturally, fans have wondered just how much the KOTOR remake would change and if rumours are true, it looks like the combat is getting completely redone.

Recent leaks by Matty Schroeder of the Defining Duke podcast (via Reddit) stated that KOTOR's remake would get a new multi-faceted action-oriented combat system, similar to God of War (2018) and Nioh. That'd be a huge change from the turn-based combat system of the original KOTOR, so it'll be interesting to see how fans respond if true.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic PS5 Remake Might Have a New Combat System

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order used a similar combat system to those two games, and that ended up working in its favour as Fallen Order received critical acclaim. Using a similar combat engine on the KOTOR remake wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility and could even convert gamers who didn’t enjoy KOTOR originally.
