In Nintendo's surprise announcement of an OLED Nintendo Switch, gameplay was shown for a variety of titles. One of those included the hotly anticipated third installment to everyone's favourite ink-spraying shooter, Splatoon.
This announcement trailer showcased a variety of games being played on the Switch's brand new OLED screen. Most were based on footage previously revealed like Metroid Dread and Breath of the Wild 2. However, new gameplay was snuck in for Splatoon 3.
Splatoon 3 Gameplay Revealed in Switch OLED Announcement
At around 1:42, you can see Splatoon 3 being played while docked.
While lasting only several seconds, the gameplay expands on footage showcased in the game's announcement trailer in February. We get to see real-time footage of a squidling traversing in a desert-like map, using the seemingly deadly Splat Bow. Showering the environment in luscious yellow and purple ink, Splatoon 3 looks to be a step-up from the last installment visually and competitively.
While the trailer did not reveal how Splatoon is likely to play handheld, we have some time to go till its 2022 release date.
