Resident Evil 8 Village will be the next instalment in the historic franchise, and it's planning to take some big creative risks.

We'd argue that Capcom has earned that right, however, with both Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 receiving excellent remakes in recent years.

Here's everything we know about the next-gen survival horror title.

What Is It?

Resident Evil has primarily been about zombies and the shadowy Umbrella Corporation, but Resident Evil 7 sidestepped that narrative for the most part – and Resident Evil: Village will do the same.

Looking to return to the first-person view, it'll feature werewolves and all sorts of other ghouls - a big departure.

Still, it will take plenty of cues from Resident Evil 4 – notably the village setting, but perhaps even more.

“You’ll notice we took a lot of inspiration from Resident Evil 4. The team has put a ton of effort into creating a truly authentic feel,” Peter Fabiano, the game's producer said to Official PlayStation Magazine.

“There are plenty of surprises to keep you on your toes; players will find a balance of combat, exploration, and puzzle-solving.”

Ray-Tracing

A neat aspect that will be featured within Resident Evil Village is AMD's ray-tracing feature that is useable within its new line of video cards.

As for consoles? It's supported on Xbox Series S, Series X, and PlayStation 5 - although it will affect your framerate.
