Like with the GTA Online summer update, the Red Dead Online summer update will include at least two phases.
The first part introduces several different races and goes live the week of May 24.
The big summer update includes much more, however, and while Rockstar is still keeping much of it secret for now, there are a few hints of what we can expect.
What’s less certain is when we’ll see it land in the game, though if the 2020 update is anything to go by, it’ll probably be later in summer.

Nearly a month has passed since the last update and there's still no word from Rockstar on when we might see the Summer Update for GTA Online or Red Dead Online. Some fans believe we coul get more info about it along with a release date with the event week post this week. Although, that's based purely on the idea that it arrives before the end of July. Typically Rockstar will announce these details a few weeks ahead of time. So if they are planning to launch before August, they're bound to announce something soon. More to follow.
June 8 -
Rockstar posted a brief tease on the Red Dead Online summer update page promising new homesteads to rob and "avenues for personal enrichment" that are "morally flexible."
As always, the update will be free, and it includes new membership rewards of some kind.
When’s the Next Red Dead Online Update - Read Dead Online Summer Update 2021
The next big Red Dead Online update will likely release in July. That’s when the 2020 summer update released, and it’s also when Rockstar put out the GTA Online seasonal update. For the time being though, there is no confirmed release date from Rockstar. So take this with a pinch of salt for the time being.
What to Expect from the Red Dead Online Summer Update
The update's big new feature is the ability to rob homesteads in Free Roam mode. The bonus here is that you won't need to plonk down any cash to raise money, as can be the case in some other missions.
Here’s how Rockstar described the Red Dead Online summer update:
“Red Dead Online’s summer update will add a diverse array of new missions across the world for those looking to step into the criminal underworld.
Down in Saint Denis, Angelo Bronte’s trusted lieutenant, Guido Martelli is working to create his own criminal network, so whether it’s intimidation, unsavory crimes, or larger, high-stakes robberies — riders best be willing to do whatever it takes to earn their blood money.”
