Sony Files A New Trademark For PlayStation Experience (PSX) - Could We See The Event Return?

Sony has filed a brand new trademark for PSX (aka PlayStation Experience), leading fans to wonder if the now dead event is on its way back.

The patent, which was spotted by a user on Reddit was filed by Sony Interactive Entertainment last week and comes as rumours suggest Sony is set to hold its own E3-style showcase in a few weeks.

The first of these rumors emerged earlier this year from 4Chan, which admittedly isn't the most reliable of places, which said that Sony is planning a big event at the end of June, which will use the PlayStation Experience name.

This event would reportedly focus on titles like God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, and a first look at PSVR 2.

However, that report had a number of inconsistencies such as suggesting Horizon would release on Tuesday November 30, 2021, despite Sony releasing most of its AAA games on a Friday recently.

Another rumour about Sony's Summer showcase came from the leaker behind Stranger Of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, Navtra.

Navtra said last Sunday that we would only have a couple more weeks to wait, with this timeframe lining up with when we should hear more about Death Stranding: Director's Cut, which was announced at the Summer Games Fest Kick Off showcase as a PS5 exclusive.

Normally, we would expect Sony to use the "State of Play" branding for its events, but last year it called its big showcases "PS5 Showcase", so we could see different branding for their E3 show.

Still it is pretty clear that we are only a few weeks away from Sony's big Summer showcase and we will have to wait to see just what Sony calls it.
