PS5 Firmware Update 21.01-03.20.00.04 Has Just Gone Live


Sony's gradually been rolling out a series of new firmware updates for the PS5. While we've not seen anything exciting since April - which offered new storage options and quality of life improvements - this latest update sees Sony piling on that sweet performance stability.

So, what does it actually do? Well, Sony's only left a singular patch note with this update, which plainly states:

  • This system software update improves system performance.

As such, there's nothing particularly exciting within, though this also comes with a separate update for your DualSense controller. According to Reddit, this patch also fixes known glitches with the battery's charging indicator, which previously suggested your controller was much lower on power than it actually was.
