Firesprite Announce Acquisition of Fabrik Games

PlayStation Studios continues to grow. After Sony announced their acquisition of The Persistence developer Firesprite Games several weeks ago - marking the 14th developer to join PS Studios - Firesprite's making a separate acquisition of their own, bringing in Manchester-based Fabrik Games.

Having previously developed two of their own games - Filthy Lucre and The Lost Bear - Fabrik has previously had a close relationship with Firesprite, helping to port The Persistence across multiple platforms.

Firesprite Announce Acquisition of Fabrik Games

Already Sony's largest UK studio, this acquisition puts Firesprite from 250 staff members to 265. Speaking about this further, Firesprite's managing director, Graeme Ankers, issued this statement:

I'm delighted to announce that we will be bringing Fabrik Games and Firesprite together as part of our exciting next step with PlayStation Studios. They are a team of passionate and committed developers, led by industry veterans who have worked on many AAA franchises. We're looking forward to bolstering our creative talent as we continue on our journey to offer truly unique experiences for PlayStation fans.

Considering Ankers previously founded Fabrik Games back in 2014, it sounds like a natural union for the two teams. We've seen rumours Firesprite's developing a Horizon VR game on PS5's new-gen PSVR successor, so if true, they could be gearing up for something big. We'll keep you informed with further developments.
