Pokémon TCG Live "Coming Soon" to PC, Mac, iOS, and Android

The Pokémon Company International has unveiled the latest TCG app, a successor to the Pokémon Trading Card Game Online. Pokémon TCG Live is a free-to-play app available on PC, Mac, iOS, and Android (including tablets), and it's apparently "coming soon." The name of the app was leaked on a recent TCG set, but this is the first official announcement.

While we don't know a lot about the app at present, the Pokémon Company International says that it is designed to "go hand in hand with the tabletop version that fans know and love, and welcomes a new era of digital play where Trainers around the world can play together regardless of their preferred platform."

What Is Pokémon TCG Live?

The app will allow players to build decks and battle other trainers, as well as customise their avatars and complete daily challenges in a similar manner to the PTCGO. You'll also still be able to scan code cards from your regular packs for virtual counterparts.

The app will launch with English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese language support, and there will be a mobile soft launch in Canada later this year, as well as a global open beta. You can watch the trailer for the app here:

One big difference is that there is no trading at launch - and only sets from Lost Thunder onwards will be initially available. The app is promised to receive updates afterwards, presumably adding previous and future card sets when necessary. Finally, only four of each card you own in PTCGO can be transferred to TCG Live.
