We can assume the process of transferring Pokemon from one game to another is going to be a rather simple process.

But, we'll go over some of the restrictions you may encounter depending on the subscription you have for Pokemon Home!

When transferring to and from Sword and Shield, this can only be done on the Nintendo Switch version of the app.

So, if you wanted to move a Pokemon from Home to your Sword and Shield game, they will need to be in your Home and transferred via the Switch version of the app. If you wanted to move a Pokemon from Sword and Shield to your Home, they will need to be in your game and transferred via the Switch version of the app.

Pokemon have essentially made the need to have both the Switch and Mobile version of the app.

If you were looking to transfer a Pokemon from the Pokemon Bank or Pokemon Go, you would need to use the mobile app. Then change to the Switch app to complete the process.

One of the neat things about Pokemon Home is there is also going to be a way to transfer Pokemon from 3DS titles over to Sword and Shield.

Although if you are eager to do this, it is going to cost anywhere from $2.99 USD to $15.99 USD for the entire year. However, for this month only you can do this for free.

Doing this will move your Pokemon to what Nintendo is calling the Pokemon Bank, then they will transfer over to Sword and Shield; keep in mind, like other transfer methods you will not be able to transfer them back!
