Pokémon Go: Niantic Teases Mega-Evolution News; Data Miners Find Mega Blastoise And More

The team at Niantic is teasing Mega Evolutions for Pokémon Go.

“Trainers, we have huge news coming your way,” the developer said in a Twitter post on Tuesday.

Then, “Or should we say mega news? Stay tuned.”

Mega Evolutions Coming To Pokémon Go

Over at r/TheSilphRoad (via Go Hub), PokéMiners published a thread claiming they’ve discovered new in-game assets for “Mega Raid” badges, Mega Venusaur, Mega Charizard (X and Y), Mega Blastoise, Mega Beedril, and Mega Pidgeot.

This news comes shortly after an official blog post detailing Pokémon Go’s revamped, more evenly distributed encounters system. It promises a greater number of spawn locations in more parts of the world.

“Recently, our focus has been dedicated to improving the experience of Trainers who live and play in areas of the world that may not have as many PokéStops or Pokémon to encounter as others,” Niantic announced.

“There were also some areas of the world where Pokémon may have been more densely populated. In these places, Pokémon should now be more spread out. This migration of Pokémon has nearly doubled the number of locations where Pokémon can be found in the wild.”

When will Mega Evolutions start to appear? Hard to say, but the Niantic tweet seems to indicate they’re coming very soon.
