The Pokémon Company Teases New Critter in Documentary-Style Video

It seems The Pokémon Company isn't finished with Pokémon Legends: Arceus surprises just yet. We just recently learned about Royal Pokémon and a new Hisui variant, and now, there's apparently another new Hisui Pokémon stalking the wilds - and it doesn't seem very nice.

Game Freak and The Pokémon Company released a new documentary-style Pokémon Legends trailer following a scout as they head into the wilds. They're alone, the film is grainy, and you know that never leads to anything good. Off they go anyway, and all is well at first.

Then, cute Snorunt give way to something else. The scout initially thinks it's a Hisuian Growlithe, but this Pokémon's tail is red, instead of white. It also has round, yellow eyes, where you can't even see if Hisuian Growlithe has eyes. Eventually, something happens, the scout yells, and there's no sound save for the crunch of Pokéfeet in the snow.

What fate befell the hapless scout is a mystery, though dark deeds and destinies are nothing new to the Pokémon universe. The roster of Royal guardian Pokémon is already full. We know it's not one of them, so it could be a separate legendary Pokémon - some fans are already speculating it's a Hisuian Zorua - or perhaps just a rare, strong 'mon roaming the wilds.

Whatever the case, we don't have much longer to wait and find out. Pokémon Legends: Arceus releases January 26 for Nintendo Switch.
