How To Transfer Pokemon From GO To HOME


Players of Pokemon GO have been long awaiting the arrival of Pokemon HOME.

The cloud service is available for Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.

Bear in mind that you can only send Pokemon from GO to HOME.

You can't send them from HOME to GO.

How To Link Pokemon GO And HOME Accounts

To send your Pokemon to HOME, you'll first have to link up your accounts.

Follow the steps below to do so.

  1. Open the Pokémon GO app.
  2. On the map, tap the Poké Ball icon.
  3. At the top right of the screen, tap the Settings button.
  4. Tap Pokémon HOME.
  5. Sign in using the Nintendo Account associated with your Pokémon HOME account.

Now that the accounts are linked you should see all your Pokemon HOME account info in the Settings menu.

This will stay here until removed.

How To Transfer Pokemon From GO To HOME

Time to transfer some Pokemon, tap Send Pokemon to start, this will access the GO Transporter.

This function uses GO Transporter Energy to send Pokemon.

The amount of energy you need will vary depending on the Pokemon.

Select the Pokemon that you want to send and it should tell you how much energy you require.

On first use, the GO Transporter will be fully charged and will charge up over time afterwards.

Otherwise, you can use PokeCoins to speed up the process.

Now press Transport to transfer the Pokemon.

Remember, Pokemon that you transfer to HOME will NOT be able to return to GO, so be sure about your choices.

Pokemon That Can't Be Sent To Pokemon HOME

Certain Pokemon can't actually be transferred to home including:

  • Spinda
  • Favourited Pokemon
  • Buddy Pokemon
  • Pokemon defending Gyms
  • Costumed Pokemon
  • Shadow Pokemon
  • Mega-Evolved Pokémon

Lucky and Purified Pokémon will lose their Lucky and Purified statuses when sent to Pokémon HOME.

Other Pokemon might actually change form during the transfer, for example:

  • Origin Forme Giratina will become Altered Forme Giratina.
  • Sunshine Form Cherrim will become Overcast Form Cherrim.
  • Sunny Form, Rainy Form, and Snowy Form Castform will become Castform in its usual form.

The confirmation screen should let you know if the selected Pokemon will change forms at all.
