Pokemon GO Spotlight: Can Slowpoke Be Shiny?

Slowpoke was at the center of the 'A Very Slow Discovery' event, and it is taking its time to leave the spotlight in Pokemon GO. Though the previous event will end on June 13, Slowpoke will be the spotlight hour featured Pokemon this week.

Like always, the spotlight hour in Pokemon GO will take place on Tuesday night for one hour. The exact time will be June 15 at 6 pm local time and it will run until 7 pm local time. In that timeframe, Slowpoke will spawn all over the map. That includes spawns from incense items and Pokestop lures.

Every week, one of the most asked questions is whether or not a spotlight featured Pokemon in Pokemon GO is shiny. Slowpoke does indeed have a shiny form in Pokemon GO, and so does every other Kanto Pokemon after the Kanto Discovery event debuted earlier this year.

The spotlight feature for Slowpoke in Pokemon GO is a perfect chance to catch a shiny due to the enormous amount of spawns, especially in populated areas.

Pokemon GO Slowpoke spotlight hour bonus

Every week, there is also a spotlight bonus that is live for the hour in Pokemon GO as an added incentive for all players. This week, the bonus is twice the normal amount of candy for transferring Pokemon. The bonus applies to all Pokemon, so it's a great chance to earn candy for any duplicates.

For anyone that hasn't earned a Slowbro or a Slowking during the event, the spotlight hour is one more shot to do so. The candy earned will also apply to Galarian Slowbro. In total, 50 candy is needed to evolve a Slowpoke into a Slowbro. Slowking has the same requirement, as well as a King's Rock in Pokemon GO.
