It's that time again, Pokémon GO Community Day is upon us. September's offering gives us the chance to catch Oshawott, the Sea Otter Pokémon. The Generation 5 Pokémon debuted as a starter in Pokémon Black & White and has been around in Pokémon GO for a little while now, but this is the first time shiny Oshawott will be available.

Community Days usually offer new raid bosses and exclusive Field Research - we don't know exactly what Oshawott Community Day in Pokémon GO will give players in these regards, but we'll update this guide (and those) as soon as we know exactly what's on offer.

As the first Community Day in Pokémon GO's Season of Mischief, we could also see some things changed up from what we usually expect. Will Hoopa make an appearance perhaps? Or maybe we'll get the next stage of the season-long Special Research. It seems that Duskull Community Day in October is giving us the spooky vibes, so perhaps Oshawott will be a fairly standard day.

When Is Pokémon GO Oshawott Community Day?

Oshawott Community Day takes place on September 19, from 11:00 to 17:00 local time. Oshawott will be spawning more frequently in the wild, and will also be attracted to Rainy Lure Modules.

There are plenty of ways to get Rainy Lure Modules, as outlined below, to ensure you encounter as many Oshawott as possible and increase your chances of grabbing one of those elusive shinies.

What is Oshawott's Evolution?

Oshawott evolves into Dewott and then Samurott. You need 25 candy to evolve Oshawott to Dewott, and 100 candy to complete the evolution to Samurott.

What Is the Oshawott Community Day Exclusive Move?

The Oshawott Community Day exclusive move is Hydro Cannon, like all Water-type starter Pokémon. Evolve Dewott into Samurott during Community Day or two hours afterwards and it will learn Hydro Cannon.

However, there's another move on offer, but only after Community Day has ended. After the day, Samurott will be able to learn Razor Shell. However, Hydro Cannon is the better option, so make sure you evolve a Dewott on Community Day or have an Elite Charged TM spare to make the most of the moves.

Best Samurott Moveset

The best Samurott moveset in Pokémon GO will utilise its Community Day move:

Fast Move: Fury Cutter

Charge Move: Hydro Cannon (exclusive) and Megahorn

Although Waterfall is Water-type, Fury Cutter charges up your energy much quicker. Unfortunately, the lack of better Fast Moves and coverage Charge Moves, other Water-types like Swampert or Azumarill are better choices.

From Scalchops to Seamitars Special Research

The Scalchops to Seamitars Special Research will be live on Oshawott Community Day. You can buy it from the in-game store for $1.00 (or local equivalent) and it will reward you with a Rainy Lure Module among other items.

There will also be a Community Day Box available in the store, for 1,280 PokéCoins. This features 50 Ultra Balls, five Lucky Eggs, five Rainy Lure Modules, and an Elite Fast TM. While Elite Fast TMs are not as good as their charged counterparts, it's still a good deal for the amount of items you receive.

That's all you need to know about Oshawott Community Day, all that's left to do is stock up on Pokéballs and get catching! Hopefully the shiny luck will be in your favour.
