We've reached the end of an era with Blizzard. After 19 years, Jeff Kaplan recently stepped down from his position as Overwatch's lead designer, succeeded by the assistant game director Aaron Keller. Widely seen as the face of Overwatch, that's left concerns about the upcoming Overwatch 2, but what's clear is Jeff's lasting impact.
Having played a key role in setting Overwatch eSports, that's included the Overwatch World Cup and wider Overwatch League. Amongst a wider outpouring of fan tributes, its no surprise then that this weekend, the Overwatch League held their own.

The Overwatch League Pays Tribute To Blizzard's Departing Jeff Kaplan
Choosing a musical tribute to Jeff Kaplan with the Jeff song, a known meme amongst the Overwatch League community. You could hear it during season one and two playing whilst there were game breaks, and a few fans quickly picked up on this.
It's clear this was an intentional tribute as when asked about it, Overwatch League pointed towards a tweet by Matt Mersel that confirmed this. It's a nice tribute to “Jeff from the Overwatch Team”, and like the Overwatch League, we'll certainly miss him going forward.
