Overwatch 2 Release Delayed Beyond 2022 - Rumor

According to a new rumour, frequent Overwatch leaker, Metro has indicated that the sequel may not release in its planned year of 2022.

Speaking to "multiple people" close to their source, "development is taking longer than expected" for the Blizzard production. This means Overwatch 2 could release in 2023, four years after its announcement.

Of course, this claim is a rumour so fans should wait till the studio officially confirms the delay.

Meanwhile, Blizzard has detailed various features for multiplayer maps in the aforementioned release, including dynamic weather and time changes in locations.

While Overwatch enthusiasts can grab a closer look at five maps that will be available in the sequel. The studio also announced a shift from its previous 6v6 teams to a 5v5 arena, in addition to detailing its post-launch plans.

Any potential delay could have been caused by the ongoing lawsuit against Activision Blizzard, and the subsequent walkout from employees.
