Overwatch 2 producer Tracy Kennedy said Activision CEO Bobby Kotick forced numerous projects on the developers and later canceled them, leading to a lot of wasted time and Overwatch 2's delay This is in response to an interview Kotick gave about Microsoft acquiring Activision Blizzard, where he claimed that the company lost stock due to the delay of games such as Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 - without explaining the circumstances behind those delays.
He also avoided the other factors determining Activision Blizzard's decreased share prices, namely the ongoing harassment and discrimination lawsuits the company is facing and exposes into Kotick's mismanagement.
Overwatch 2 Producer Calls Out Bobby Kotick For Wasting Development Time
Kennedy claimed on Twitter (via GamesRadar) that Kotick made the Overwatch 2 team work overtime on unrelated projects that ended up going nowhere. Kennedy then said Kotick would constantly hide behind scapegoats and said history will remember him for being a greedy joke, among other things. Kennedy's statements coincide with rumors from earlier in 2021 that Overwatch 2 was delayed internally and help shed light on why that happened.
After the initial cinematic that revealed Overwatch 2, we haven’t heard much about the sequel, minus a gameplay trailer or character design showcase.
