August 22 - The Outer Worlds 2 Reportedly In A Playable State Already
A recent tweet by Obsidian studio design director, Josh Sawyer, got fans thinking The Outer Worlds 2 could show up sooner than expected. Advising he's recently played it alongside Avowed, that created speculation as to how far this upcoming sequel is in development.
August 3 - The Outer Worlds 2 Will Likely Use Unreal Engine 5
A recent job advert from Obsidian Entertainment was spotted, signalling that they're looking to use Unreal Engine 5 in future projects. As a fairly new project to enter development, many believe they could use UE5 for The Outer Worlds 2, though nothing remains confirmed.
June 13 - Xbox/Bethesda E3 2021
The Outer Worlds 2 is happening after all. That's all we know about it at this point too.
Obsidian released a brief, and very meta, trailer mentioning some world design basics and saying the development team haven't finalized a plot or character yet.
But they do have a logo, and if the world looks in any way like it does in the trailer, then we're in for a treat.
June 2 - E3 Announcement On The Way?
Rumours are pointing to The Outer Worlds 2 being announced at E3 2021 during the Microsoft showcase. With Windows Central's Jez Cordon saying there is a possibility it could show up. Full details here.
May 20 - Microsoft Takes Over Publishing
The Outer Worlds 2 is in development, and Microsoft is the publisher. As of E3 2021, the story isn't finished, but we'll update when more details are available.
