How to Unlock Riven and Irelia in Wild Rift for Free

As part of the Wild Rift 2.3 update, Riven and Irelia have made thier LoL Mobile debut. These two League of Legends staples play a part in the Broken Blades event kick-starting the new update, and you can get one of them completely free of charge. Here's how to unlock Riven and Irelia in Wild Rift and all the Broken Blade missions you'll need to complete to do so.

How to Unlock Riven and Irelia in Wild Rift

As of June 3, Riven and Irelia have made their Wild Rift debut, so you should expect to see them on the battlefield from now on. Both of these characters have arrived as part of the Broken Blades event, which lasts up until June 16.

Until that time, you can unlock either Riven or Irelia for free. Simply choose one or the other on the Broken Blades event screen by tapping the big button on the left side of the main menu. You'll be warned that the decision to pick either character cannot be reversed, so make sure you're certain of your choice before committing.

But making your selection isn't enough to grab a free Wild Rift champion. You have to earn it. Either champion has a series of missions that need to be completed in sequence to unlock your final choice. You'll get a bunch of Blue Motes and some accessories as well.

Riven or Irelia? Which Free Wild Rift Champion Should You Pick?

When faced with a split decision, it can be hard to come to a conclusion. Through the Broken Blades event, you'll be able to unlock Riven or Irelia for free. So which should you choose? Rather than focusing on which one might be OP, instead think about which you'll enjoy playing the most.

While both champions are melee fights, Irelia's kit means she's more of a sustained fighter than Riven. She builds stacks against her targets to deal progressively more damage over time, meaning she prefers longer fights as opposed to dunks and assassinations.

Riven, on the other hand, is typically built like an assassin. She's designed to pick off low HP or otherwise squishy targets with rapid movements and a burst of strength. Once she expends her skills, she won't have much chance to finish a target off.

All Wild Rift Broken Blades Champion Unlock Missions

The long list of Riven missions in Wild Rift unlock as you complete the previous one, but we've rounded up the full Broken Blades mission list down below so that you know exactly what you're getting into. The rewards for these missions include icons, baubles, Blue Motes. Complete mission 5 to get the Riven or Irelia champion unlock chest. These might take some time, so be sure to get a move on before the event nears its end.

Wild Rift Riven Unlock Missions

1. Play 5 games OR Participate in the first blood takedown. (Icon)
2. Deal 65,000 damage to enemy champions. (150 Blue Motes)
3. Play 5 games OR win a game while having at least 15 takedowns. (Bauble)
4. As a team, kill a total of 1,000 minions. (150 Blue Motes)
5. Play 5 games OR Get a triple kill or greater. (Riven unlock chest)
6. Earn 60,000 Gold. (150 Blue Motes)
7. Play 5 games OR Earn an S rank medal. (Riven pose)
8. As a team, kill Baron Nashor 2 times. (150 Blue Motes)
9. Play 5 games OR As Riven, get a takedown on an enemy recently hit with Wind Slash. (Icon)

Wild Rift Irelia Unlock Missions

If you choose Irelia as your free champion during the Wild Rift Broken Blades event, you'll need to complete the below Irelia missions to unlock her.

1. Play 5 games OR Win a game playing as an Ionian champion. (Icon)
2. Deal 65,000 damage to enemy champions. (150 Blue Motes)
3. Play 5 games OR Destroy at least 6 enemy wards in a single game. (Bauble)
4. As a team, kill a total of 1,000 minions. (150 Blue Motes)
5. Play 5 games OR Win a game in under 14 minutes. (Irelia unlock chest)
6. Earn 60,000 Gold. (150 Blue Motes)
7. Play 5 games OR Win a game where your team defeated at least two dragons. (Irelia pose)
8. As a team, kill Baron Nashor 2 times. (150 Blue Motes)
9. Play 5 games OR As Irelia, use Bloodsurge to dash to 3 different enemy champions within 5 seconds. (Icon)

All Wild Rift Broken Blades Secondary Missions

After you complete the primary missions of your chosen Broken Blades champion, you'll be able to go back and complete the other character's missions as well. They essentially mirror each other, so the list above will get you through them.

You won't earn the selected champion for this grueling feat, but what you will earn is a bunch of Blue Motes and Poro Coins to put toward your next store champion unlock or pose.
