So My Friend Pedro Mobile is suddenly a thing. Publisher Devolver Digital today announced that its stylish 2.5D shoot em' up is getting a new title exclusively on mobile next month.

Releasing early on August 5, My Friend Pedro: Ripe for Revenge won't be a premium title like its predecessor, but a F2P mobile game for iOS and Android.

That obviously means that it won't be a surprise exclusive addition to Apple Arcade.

If paying out to try the original never appealed to you, this could be a great way to experience its skill-based combat firsthand. Pre-registrations are open right now on both iOS and Android.

Tucked away in the game's announcement tweet is exactly how My Friend Pedro Mobile will handle monetization and microtransactions.

Though you can play through the game's 37 launch levels for free without ads, a one-off purchase will unlock checkpoints and the new Blood Rush mode.

Amassing close to 20,000 Overwhelmingly Positive reviews on Steam alone, My Friend Pedro had sold half a million copies toward the end of 2019.

Based on the 2014 My Friend Pedro Flash game, it became enough of a cultural hit to get its own My Friend Pedro Fall Guys skin last year.
