Marvel is no stranger to videogames, with 2018's Spider-Man a rip-roaring success and Square Enix's Avengers game landing last year.
MARVEL Future Revolution, however, is a little different. This open-world RPG is exclusive to mobile platforms.
We're excited to get our hands on it, so here's everything we know about this exciting new project.
More details revealed at Marvel Live
Not long after pre-registrations went live, a 44-minute livestream went over some key details, took player questions, and even revealed some proper gameplay. Here's the recap.
Suggesting a release date isn't too far away now, pre-registrations are now live across iOS and Android.
That's right, Storm marks the first appearance of any X-Men on the roster.
What is MARVEL Future Revolution?
A sort-of successor to developer Netmarble's previous Marvel title Future Fight, this RPG tells a story of numerous realities converging into one.
That means you'll see plenty of different variants of each iconic hero (and villain).
It's an open-world action game with real-time combat that looks to play similarly to Square Enix's Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy games. On mobile, a relatable comparison would be Genshin Impact.
Speaking of which, we've plucked a few characters from the announcement trailer and subsequent news drops. Here are the ones we've spotted so far.
- Captain America
- Spider-Man (and Spider Punk)
- Captain Marvel
- Doctor Strange
- Iron Man
- Black Widow
Expect villains like MODOK, Red Goblin, Kingpin and Thanos to appear, too, although we don't know if they'll be playable.
MARVEL Future Revolution Trailer
With pre-registration now live, we're to assume a MARVEL Future Revolution Android or iOS release date is close by. Although there's no solid dates set just yet, the Apple App Store lists an expected launch date of September 30.
As we've seen with other mobile games like NieR Reincarnation and Mitrasphere, however, this probably won't be totally accurate and is likely just a requirement to have the app listed for pre-order.
For now, it's probably just safe to assume MARVEL Future Fight will release sometime in Summer 2021.
During the Marvel Live show, the developers revealed details for various different modes. Blitz and Raid pit teams of superheroes against iconic villains like Thanos and Abomination.
Duel, Omega War and Dark Zone are PvP modes involving more and more players, and Special Operations sound like traditional MMORPG dungeons revolving around general superhero tasks and chores.
