No Man's Sky: How to get Microprocessors

No Man's Sky microprocessors

There are certain objects that you will be crafting fairly often in No Man's Sky. From starship fuel to metal plating to di-hydrogen jelly, the objects you can craft straight from your inventory will usually be used more than others throughout your time traversing the expansive galaxy. One of those objects you will need time and time again are Microprocessors.

Microprocessors are used fairly often when crafting in No Man's Sky. They're mostly used when building upgrades for Exocraft vehicles, installing new technologies onto your ship, and more. Finding and crafting them can be a little tricky, which is why we've put together this guide. You can read more below about exactly what to do to add Microprocessors to your inventory in No Man's Sky.

How to get No Man's Sky Microprocessors

There are three main ways to get Microprocessors. The easiest is to look for Cargo Drops on a planet's surface. Look for the green crates specifically, removing the Rusted Metal from them once located. This will often give you a Microprocessor, but, of course, this will come down to luck. To speed things up, bring an Exocraft along with you. You can read about how to get an Exocraft vehicle in No Man's Sky in our previous guide. Here are the other two ways of acquiring Microprocessors.

  • Craft from Chromatic Metal and Carbon Nanotubes. The Blueprint is received by completing the Scientific Research mission at your base.
  • Purchase from Galactic Terminals for a varying amount of Units. These terminals are found at any space station or trading post on a planet

Using Microprocessors in No Man's Sky

You'll be required to use Microprocessors for all sorts of things in No Man's Sky. Here are some of their main functions:

  • Crafting Atlas Passes
  • Crafting the Galactic Trade Terminal
  • Upgrading Exocraft Scanners
    • Large sub-space radars that can be equipped to the Exocraft.
  • Building the Artemis Translator

Perhaps their most common and useful purpose is to craft Atlas Passes. These passes allow you to access certain containers on planets and other items as well. You will also need Microprocessors for a variety of other technology-based crafting, which will mainly take place on your base or in your starship.
