No Man's Sky lets players explore and survive in space. As you can imagine, these galaxies have a lot to offer and are incredibly diverse, so you want to be as comfortable as possible for your exploration endeavours. Years ago, players would be confined to the first-person view in No Man's Sly, but players can now switch between first and third-person, and change their camera view while manoeuvring vehicles, too.

In this guide, we explain how to adjust your camera view in No Man's Sky.

In No Man's Sky, you can choose for the player camera to be first or third-person, both of which have their own pros and cons. For example, first-person view is much more immersive and can feel easier when handling your character, but this will also reduce your field of view. Players in third-person have a much wider field of view and, thus, more spatial awareness in-game.

To change between the two views in No Man's Sky, do the following:

  • Press 'Down' on your D-pad
  • Navigate to the tool icon labelled 'Utilities'
  • On the right, you can alternate between first and third person camera view.

Changing the camera view for your vehicle in No Man's Sky is just as simple as the above, too. Essentially, all you need to do is follow the exact same steps, but make sure you choose the 'Switch [vehicle name] View' first.

As ever, the view you choose is up to you, but you may find yourself wanting to change between views depending on what tasks you're carrying out. First person is incredibly immersive, but the wider field of view provided by third person will prove valuable during combat and when scanning for resources, especially in a vehicle, too. So, keep this in mind!
